Research & Development Facility
GEM Ltd. is a company founded in 1988 with the object of manufacturing materials for the electronics and associated industries. Products are manufactured directly for individual customers and are tailored to suit specific processes. Since it’s founding GEM Ltd. has grown to become a major supplier of paste and ink to industry. The current capability of the production facility is in the region of 100,000.00 to 200,000.00 Kg of paste per year. All pastes can be made in our own designed, latest fully computer controlled dispersion equipment. This is coupled with an extensive range of testing and analysis equipment to ensure that our products meet the highest standards.
GEM Ltd. also undertakes contract research for companies who wish to look at areas of new technology and do not have the in-house capability or expertise. Our research facility is also of sufficient size to ensure that a continuous development of customer products can be carried out in parallel with customer research and European grant aided research in conjunction with other consortium members.
The success of GEM Ltd.’s research can be seen in the six "SMART" awards, various "LINK" awards, three European Union funded grants and many other projects that the company has been intimately involved with to date.
These combined with the many scientific papers that have been published in conjunction with Students and Researchers at Universities, which are wholly or partially supported by our company. It is GEM Ltd.’s policy to support directly from it’s own funds University research that will ensure that our company has access to the very latest technology in it’s areas of expertise.
GEM Ltd. has installed systems and processes such that all manufacturing development and research is carried out to the ISO 9000 specification. GEM Ltd., is fully accredited to ISO 9001 specification. This enables customers to take both the products and research results with the confidence that all processes, developments and raw materials specifications are carried out to an agreed international standard along with full trace ability.
The product ranges that GEM Ltd. covers includes conductor pastes that may contain precious metal or non-precious metal, for all forms of substrates, passive or active components; dielectric pastes for all forms of substrates, passive or active components; polymer based pastes for all forms of substrates both precious metal containing and non-precious metal containing; pastes for sensors, industrial, automotive and biosensors; pastes for all forms of passive components. GEM Ltd. also has a complete range of a new type of synthetic metallo-organic materials for the electronics industries and for decorative applications on the full range of substrates or materials.
GEM Ltd. has a full compliment of the latest technology equipment to manufacture the above product range of products, together with an extensive research capability to keep our product range at the forefront of technology.
As a centre of excellence GEM Ltd. is well positioned with good logistical connections just 30 minutes by road from the Severn Bridges, and 100 minutes from Heathrow airport.
The core staff members of GEM Ltd., have between them over 100 years of experience working directly in the fields of paste production for the electronics and sensor industries. This experience is combined with an extensive knowledge of the preparation of the raw materials that are required for the production of these pastes. The staff of GEM Ltd., continue to increase their knowledge of the most up to date materials and processes by being in constant contact with the leaders in the fields of production processes and researchers in the area of new materials. Our company directly supports a considerable amount of this work. This ensures that our products are always in the forefront of technology.
